Since its inception, National Rural Support Program is striving hard for the development of the poor and marginlaized communities of the country. And to develop the poor first the identification of the poor as poverty has no standardized definition it has a lot of variaions within itself. Social and Human Prorection Program is using a very unique tool for ranking thepoverty level through the Povery Score Card which is a very objective and qunitified technique compare to the previously used tools like observations participatory rural assessments etc. This card is the introduced by the World Bank and being efficiently utilized by the MER section of the NRSP. Likewise, the same card is bieng used by the SHP for the identifictaion of the poor as their score on the card determines their poverty level which ranges between 1 to 100. the households who have score less than 30 are choose for the intervention.
